TrainzProRoutes WallaWallaValley Small Switching Layout Packed With Operation! |

Layout and Route Map Coming Soon and be Downloaded Here |

Recently my interest in route building has switched to smaller projects that allow for lots of operating potential. I have spent a lot of time looking through model railroading publications to find layouts with this kind of potential. I came across Blair Kooistra's Walla Walla Valley layout in the 2005 edition of Model Railroader's "Great Model Railroads". As soon as I saw the track plan I knew I wanted to do this project. The railroad is set in Washington State and is a fruit and agriculture hauling short line that interchanges with UP and the NP (Now BNSF), Blair set is in the late 60s or early 70s. I have reproduced the track plan very faithfully, only changing it by adding two portals to represent the UP and NP interchanges. I refer you to Blair's web site as it contains lots of information on the prototype, but more importantly it contains a nice section on the model railroad and how to operate it, so I will not go into that here. Even though it is relatively small, it takes several hours of intense switching operation to switch out all the industries. The POTLACH wood products mill is the major industry on the layout, but it is sprinkled with many more, mostly related to the fruit and agriculture industries. All industries are PROTOLARS, so you must have that content that can be found at the TrainzProRoutes forum in the LARS section. To the best of my knowledge all other content is on the Auran DLS with the exception of rail crossings which can be found here under the trackside, roads, and stations link. Hope you enjoy the WWV as much as I did creating it! I have contacted Blair via email and have sent him screenies of the project and he has given his full blessing to sharing his creation with our community and I thank Blair for his kindness. Have Fun! John
